Capcom Fiscal Reports for 2012!

http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data ... ull_01.pdf
Reasons Behind the Undershooting of Original Targets

Delayed response to the expanding digital contents market

Insufficient coordination between the marketing and game development divisions
in overseas markets

Decline in quality due to excessive outsourcing

However, business results are largely in line with revised forecasts (2012/12)

⇒Losses related to the discontinuation of development of titles due to delays in
responding to the digital contents and the resulting inability to address
market needs

⇒Losses resulting from the discontinuation of development of certain titles
outsourced overseas that are no more compatible with the current business
strategy

HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM.

/in other words, "We really dropped the ball, we really should have shut Taneem up sooner, fuck DmC2."
//good times!

Whaaa? You can't just farm out all of your IP to third party developers that are willing to work for cheap and turn out masterpieces?

Of course, we're not thinking about the downside yet, so allow me to point it out:

Capcom just put another nail in the coffin of outsourcing to Platinum.
You're beautiful as you say the words.

First quote mentions overseas markets, but second does not!

I haven't played a good Capcom game that wasn't Marvel vs. Capcom (any of them) in ages.

Glad that they're reaping what they sowed.

Hey, Capcom made Dragon's Dogma and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It just had a new release this week, as far as I'm aware, and that also looked amazing. So... Capcom has one game? <_< They're not doing too well otherwise.

I think it's one of those SSF4:Arcade deals where there's a retail release for a DLC expansion so not quite new release territory.

Apparently the amount of content in the release was pretty large, more than a standard DLC, so I'm not so sure. It isn't "Dragon's Dogma 2" or anything, since it really is added content over the original release, but...

Hey, at least it isn't DmC.
